Ep. #888 Exploring Mackinac Island: Carriage Tours, Local Cuisine, and More

Join us on a journey to Mackinac Island, as we explore the beautiful sights and sounds of this historic location. Our adventure begins at Casa de Candace, a little restaurant located in our cabin. Candace, our food slave, as we affectionately call her, prepares delicious breakfast sandwiches for us. After breakfast, we head to Star Lines Ferry to take a ride to the island. It's windy and cold, so we stop at a gift shop and grab a hoodie to keep us warm.

Once on the island, since no motorized vehicles are allowed, we opt for a horse carriage tour to explore the island's beauty. We learn about the history of the island's horses, which were originally bred in France to carry soldiers and their weapons into battle.

After our tour, we stop for a bite to eat at The Yankee Rebel Tavern. We enjoy Whitefish bites, an artichoke dip, and homemade crostini, among other delicious dishes. We even try Mezcal, a new type of alcohol for us, which turns out to be quite harsh. Not our favorite.

Finally, we end our day by trying some local beers before heading back to our cabin. Overall, our trip to Mackinac Island was a little disappointing due to the cold weather, but we still had a great time exploring this historic location.
