Our Iowa Derecho Experience ~ 2020 just gets better and better
It seems that 2020 just keeps getting better and better, and our Iowa Derecho experience was certainly a testament to that. This storm, which is known as a derecho, was a particularly intense and destructive one, being classified as a "super derecho" due to its size and strength. It spanned a distance of 50 to 60 miles and traveled over 700 miles, wreaking havoc and causing widespread damage in its path. Our own experiences with this storm were particularly trying, as we were left without power for a full week and without reliable internet access for a month. On top of that, our new fence was completely destroyed, and Mike and Autumn's home suffered significant damage. It was a difficult time for all of us, but we are grateful to have made it through and to be able to share our story with others.

This past summer we went camping with a group of friends and I thought it'd be a perfect opportunity to do some experimenting with my ham radio.

The answer may surprise you. There are some good options out there that will help you cut through the noise and they don't require a $5000 radio.
