Today's journey led Robin and I to the challenging terrains of the Tabeguache 4x4 Trail. Our starting point was the distinctive Rim Road. Just to differentiate, this is not the same as the Escalante Rim Road we traversed earlier. Beginning from the exit off Highway 50, we followed JJ Road, heading westward, until Rim Road guided us to the doorstep of our true adventure: the Tabeguache 4x4 Trail.

As the path unfurled, it showcased a varied terrain, leading us from the initial staging area right to the heart of the Jeep Trail. To assist in our navigation through unfamiliar terrain, I had the onX off-road app at the ready. Its detailed offline map was instrumental in mapping our progress from Montrose, across JJ road, and onto Rim Road, which eventually led us to the doorstep of the Tabeguache Trail.

The Tabeguache 4x4 Trail was not for the faint-hearted. Its massive boulders and steep declines often made us pause and reassess our route. During these trying moments, Robin's observations and encouragement were my beacon. Whether she was suggesting a detour around a sizable rock or pointing out a safer path, her insights were invaluable.

Robin lives with macular degeneration and only has peripheral vision. This condition limits her from driving on regular roads. But, in the forgiving expanse of the off-road trails, she finds joy in steering the wheel, relishing moments when she can be in control. It's these moments that she cherishes, bringing a burst of laughter and excitement to our adventure. Infusing some humor into our expedition, she whimsically daydreamed of a world where she's the lone driver, cautioning all pedestrians with her playful spirit.

Midway, an unsettling noise from our vehicle gave us a moment's pause. With plans to move ahead by Monday, the possibility of mechanical issues loomed large. Nevertheless, we persisted, driven by our adventurous spirit.

Through challenging terrains and unexpected hiccups, our journey on the Tabeguache 4x4 Trail was a testament to our shared adventurous spirit. With every turn and obstacle, the importance of the journey and the companion by one's side became evident. For Robin and I, whether it's the serene Rim Road or the daunting Tabeguache Trail, each adventure writes a memorable chapter in our story.
